The Disappearing Pond

When we purchased our home, the pond we inherited with it gave us nothing but disappointment. For one thing, it wouldn’t hold more than 4 feet of water. We were torn between pressing on to find a solution and just filling it in. That’s the point at which we discovered PondEnviro.

We heard about them from a neighbor, called them and they came out for a consultation. We felt no pressure, and we simply told them what we wanted. Their advice for our pond was to reconfigure parts of it to cut down on erosion and create better access for fishing. In addition to more clay, they used their powdered “stop leak” to give us a pond that, as you can see, holds water right up to the top of the overflow.

Another problem we had was brown surface algae. PondEnviro recommended their Bubble Gun aerator which we have found to clear up the algae and also give our thriving fish population more oxygen. As soon as our grandsons arrive, they head for the garage to get their Zebco’s. We really appreciate the great advice and products that work from PondEnviro.

A Rocky Start to Pond Construction

I am writing you to let you know that your product DB-200 met my full expectations. I recently built a pond next to my home here in Southwest Arkansas. Before building my pond, I contacted the local NRCS to get their opinion on the pond location I had chosen. Following a site visit by the NRCS, I was advised that the location was very questionable due to the high amount of slate, sand and a lack of clay. I decided to try anyway knowing that there was a high risk that the pond might not hold water.

During the construction process, I found that the NRCS was correct; we hit slate only a few feet under the ground surface. The surface material was comprised of a great deal of rock and sand with no clay. It was then decided that a large amount of clay would have to be hauled in to line the bottom of the pond.

We hauled in 400 yards of clay and spread and compacted the material, however, due to the height and angle of the pond dam; we could not get a good spread and compaction of the clay on the dam itself. This became a major concern because the material comprising the make up of the dam was sand and broken gray slate.

My concern was justified. As the pond level rose above the clay line, considerable seepage began to appear on the backside of the dam. That is when I did some research and found your product DB-200 (granular pond sealer). I followed your recommendation and as the water level rose following a rain, I hand spread DB-200 about 5 foot out in the water along the dam. It worked great. Within hours of application, the seepage took up. I continued the application with each rise of a foot or more in the water level until the high water level was reached. I am very happy to report that I have absolutely no water seepage.

Congratulations, you have a wonderful product and I would highly recommend to anyone experiencing the same problem I had.

Thank you,  Hal P.

Large Scale Success

For years we envisioned a pond here, but what we conceived of would not have been proper. The lay-out we were planning would have been built in the wrong way. When PondEnviro came, they laid it out in such a way that we understood it was the right way to do it.

We gave them the go-ahead and they designed, surveyed and flagged it off so we could see how it was going to look. Because of their knowledge we were able to maximize a pond that did not require a civil engineer’s costly approval. That was in 1998.

Among the other helps PondEnviro has rendered has been the use of their DB-110 clarifying agent, Bubble Gun aerator and their TB-300 coloring dye. The Bubble Gun is incredibly simple, but effective. Our pond has never “turned over” and we haven’t seen more than 1 or 2 dead fish in all this time. No more than 2 for sure. That seems significant to me for a pond of almost 3 acres!

This pond has become a tremendous blessing to family and friends, some from as far away as India and Katmandu, Nepal. Because of all this the pond has become a place of ministry to a large number of folks in many ways.

A Clear Winner

Everything that Pond Doctors has done here has been a substantial improvement to the quality of the pond. Clarity, oxygen level, color and general appearance are all enhanced.

The Bubble Gun aerator is quiet, efficient and trouble-free. That little pump is far more dependable that the floating aerator I first bought, which has been nothing but trouble. Their pond color (TB-300) is cheaper than other coloring agents or dyes I’ve found and it’s helped with algae growth and aesthetics. Their DB-110 water clarifier has helped to make our pond very clear.

It’s been a pleasure to work with folks as professional as PondEnviro. I would recommend them to anyone who has a pond.

Thanks again ! - John L

Dam Good Results!

I have been dealing with my 1/2 acre pond since I bought the land 20 years ago. I had the pond cleaned out one summer when it dried up which was a big mistake, as it has been leaking since. It should be noted that at one time in the past a willow tree had grown below the dam. I have purchased several tons of Bentonite clay with no results. I had a dozer repack the dam area, a track hole dig a trench across the length of the dam. Nothing worked. The pond would leak down to a certain level and then stop leaking. It leaked at 20 gallons a minute.

I found your website and ordered 10 gallons of DB200. When it arrived I spot treated the dam area. The next morning, I checked and I couldn't believe it. I would guess about 95% of the leak had stopped. I couldn't wait and applied the second treatment to the same area a week later. After 4 days, the leak almost stopped. I would say it is leaking about the amount that would flow through a McDonalds straw. I wish I had waited until another rain. I am going to order another 5 gallons and apply when the pond is full. I spent thousands of dollars over the years and had all but given up on my pond. The small investment in your product saved my pond. I'm so happy my pond is holding water and can't wait until I stock it with fish for my grand kidos.

A Fishy Problem Averted

We raise Koi on our farm. Two years ago we excavated a grow-out pond in sandy, rocky soil and brought in clay for a liner. We did a rough-out smoothing with tracked vehicles (not recommended) and then did a round or two with a self propelled roller. We had some leaks at first, but stayed ahead of the leaks until the DB-110 went in and then the pond sealed up just fine. We just finished digging another clay pond and will be adding the DB-110 as soon as it arrives.

Proven and Preferred

After using PondEnviro's products now for several years I can comfortably attest to their value in pond work. I used them on my own pond first and haven't had a bit of trouble since and have never had to add water even during drought times. I use them now consistently on almost 100% of my pond projects and recommend them if used properly as they are not and don't claim to be miracle workers! Thanks for a very efficient soil amendment & the other quality products!

Happy Customer, Happy Fish

I work with a fish farm in a western state where the soil contains too much sand to reliably hold water. We were, therefore, frustrated in our attempts to build narrow race-ways through which we could pump water and keep our crop of fish oxygenated. Our problem was solved when we discovered PondEnviro's DB-110 liquid pond sealer. We bought 13 five-gallon jugs and an application pump. One application sealed our pond and allowed us to move on to stocking and growing a crop. Additionally, we discovered the power of PondEnviro's aerators, the Bubble Gun, several of which we have employed to beef up our oxygen content. We're very happy with our results and highly recommend PondEnviro's products.
